 Cannon Mountain Ski Area

In 1933, the Taft trail was constructed, thanks in large part, to the efforts of Kate Peckett of Sugar Hill. The Taft ran from the top of Cannon Mountain down to the saddle with Mt. Jackson, up over Mt. Jackson, then down the north slope. 5 years later, in 1938, the Aerial Tramway was opened, providing lift service to the Taft, along with several other trails, mainly on the Cannon Mountain side.

For many years, Cannon was considered “THE skiers mountain” in NH, offering challenging trails and one of the steepest vertical drops in New England. In fact many “average” skiers found the north face of Cannon to be quite intimidating. This earned Cannon the reputation of being ” for experts only”. It seemed as though the georgeous, gently rolling trails on the Mittersal side of the mountain remained a well kept secret.

Today, Cannon offers a wide variety of skiing for all abilities. The famous aerial tramway has undergone several upgrades over the years and the Peabody slopes are serviced by a high speed quad chairlift. Cannon is truly a ski area that offers something for everyone.

Loon Mountain Ski Area

Since it’s opening in 1966, Loon has been rated “NH’s favorite ski area”. Loon was the dream of Sherman Adams, avid outdoors-man and statesman. “Sherm” enlisted the help of Olympic Skier Sel Hannah to design what they envisioned to be a “family friendly” mountain of winter fun for all ages.

With easy access from the newly constructed stretch of I-93, Loon recorded over 30,000 skier visits in it’s first winter of operation and continued to grow and offer services for thousands of winter sports enthusiasts.  Loon’s aerial tram, high speed quads, snowboard park offer a wide variety of winter enjoyment to it’s ever growing legion of fans.
